What is a welding mask?

Eye protection: It can filter light in double ways, effectively avoid harmful radiation such as ultraviolet rays and infrared rays generated by the arc, prevent strong welding light from causing damage to the eyes, and prevent the occurrence of photoelectric eye inflammation1.
Face protection: It can effectively prevent spatter and harmful gases from appearing during welding operations from causing damage to the face, and reduce the risk of skin burns1.
Respiratory protection: Some Welding Masks can effectively reduce the damage to the human body caused by harmful gases and dust released by welding through airflow guidance design, and prevent the occurrence of occupational diseases such as pneumoconiosis1.
Components
Observation window: It is a window for welders to observe the welding part. It is usually made of transparent materials with certain strength and wear resistance, and can withstand high temperature and spatter impact during welding.
Filter: It is the core component of the welding mask. Its main function is to filter harmful light generated during welding, such as ultraviolet rays, infrared rays and strong light, to protect the welder's eyes. Filters generally have different light-shielding levels, which can be selected according to the requirements of welding current and welding process1.
Protective sheet: Installed in front of the filter to protect the filter from damage by splashes, dust and scratches, etc., and extend the service life of the filter4.
Mask: It is the main frame of the entire welding mask, usually made of high-strength, high-temperature resistant, non-conductive materials such as plastic, carbon fiber, etc., which can provide support and fixation for the observation window, filter and protective sheet, and also protect the welder's face from injury.
